       Prior to the 1890s when Melbourne’s street numbers were altered,

                   No. 88 was labelled No. 109 Collins Street East.

 

       During the early 1880s No. 88 was occupied by Dr George Teague,

      who was honorary surgeon of the Melbourne Homœopathic Hospital.

Younger brother of James Teague. Born in approximately 1850, he was educated at Geelong and Melbourne Grammar Schools. He graduated with distinction from Melbourne University in 1873. He was Senior Resident for a time at the Melbourne Hospital, but in 1876 joined the surgical staff of the Melbourne Homœopathic Hospital as their Honorary Surgeon. He was one of the early medically trained homœopaths in Melbourne. In 1884 and 1886 his practice was recorded as being at 109 Collins Street East.* He was killed in a road accident in Melbourne on 21 June 1887.
