The 1861 edition of the Sands & Kenny’s Melbourne Directory listed James Jackson as herbalist at 229 Bourke Street East.* The 1865 edition of the Sands and McDougall’s Melbourne and Suburban Directory listed him as being a Chemist & Druggist, operating a ‘botanic and homœopathic depot”.
